Bob Maddux: Storyteller and Pastor

Experience and Expertise

Bob been telling stories and serving in ministry for most of his adult life. As founder and co-owner of Ezekiel 12 Productions with his partner Shane Gilbert, he's spent over four decades figuring out how to combine his love of storytelling with his calling to ministry.

Ministry Background

Bob entered full-time Christian ministry in 1968 and has worn many hats over the years – college campus pastor, youth pastor, Bible Institute president, and senior pastor. He founded Trinity Church in San Diego and served as senior pastor there from 1988 to 2015. In the last 10 years he has served in an associate role at Trinity.

During his time at Trinity, the church started Project Compassion in 1992, a medical mission that has treated over 200,000 people in 22 countries. They also run a food pantry that feeds thousands of people each week. Bob's always believed that taking care of people's physical needs is just as important as their spiritual ones.

Writing

Bob has written six books, mixing fiction and non-fiction. His latest book, The Return is a modern retelling of parable of the Prodigal son. Bob digs into the biblical side of the prophetic gifts and how they work in everyday life. He's also written a novel called Precipice that he and Shane are turning into a TV series.

Film and TV Work

Bob got his start in the 1970s making TV programs for local outreach. In the 1980s, he produced Pastor's Study for Capital Christian Center in Sacramento. Over the years, he's made documentaries like Fantasy Explosion for Gospel Light and executive produced Mzungu: White Wanderer, which won some awards.

These days, he's co-producing Even The Darkness, a TV series for Send Rain Films, and just finished directing I Am Living Proof, which hit theaters March 9th, 2025.

Speaking and Current Work

Bob speaks at events around the world, sharing what he's learned from decades in both ministry and production. Through Ezekiel 12 Productions, he keeps working on projects that he hopes will make people think and maybe even change some lives.

After more than 55 years in ministry and 40 years in production, Bob's still at it – trying to tell stories that matter and serve people however he can. He's learned that whether you're behind a camera or behind a pulpit, it's all about connecting with people and hopefully making a difference.
